Dear….
...The day of the Lord is great; it is dreadful. Who can endure it?
Joel 2:11
Imagine you plan to travel from the frigid -40 degree in midwest USA, down south to boiling +49 degree Adelaide, Australia. Only an abalone can empathize fully with you, for its flesh is tender when subjected to extremities in temperatures.
..Certainly every man at his best state is but vapor…
Psalm 30:5
An icicle or a shriveled sun baked salted fish, that might be the emotional state of mind which is a function of where you are now in our long suffering Mother Earth.
But spiritually, where will you be once your bodily shell reverts to its original dust? Your ashes could be in an urn, ensconced in a place of worship, or scattered in the sea to form part of the day’s menu for a passing fish or simply spread out in the garden of your house or for some, form part of an encrusted jewel to be worn on the neck of your loved one.
On showbiz, lately I have got a little enamored with watching K dramas. I do not think this is the stepping up that God meant when His Spirit impressed upon my very being.
Addictive such drama series can be, and I have resolved to step down my level of engagement with such shows.
But still, in all things, God always has a purpose.
My Love from the star. A popular K drama back in 2014. The main protagonist vaporized and floated back to where he came from, much to the anguish of his loved one.
Not too sure if the producer took this idea from Psalm 30:5, but once again, it begs this question
- The Bible clearly states that God and eternity awaits us the follower of our Lord Jesus Christ.
- Are we still alive because God knows we are not ready to meet Him at the judgement seat and there is work for us to do in His service on Earth?
- But why does not many professed believers not give much credence to this truth in their temporal existence?
Blessed is the man whose strength is in You. Whose heart is set on pilgrimage.
Psalm 84:5
Distant a word God impressed upon my heart.
President Trump is one chap who sure does not keep his thoughts at a distance from any of us.
Tweety bird, some might recall was the chirpy yellow canary, that always manage to keep the hungry Sylvester cat at bay in the Merry Melodies cartoon of the 1950s/60s..
Tweety birds we are not, nor do we have any feline issues to deal with, but it seems that many of us do keep our distance from our Lord.
Be it in not reading His Word, not doing His work. Rarely in prayers and a thankful heart is by a mile.
You come to the help of those who gladly do right, who remember Your ways.
Isaiah 64:5
Troubles always make it easier to close the chasm between our waiting God and the distracted us. And what the Scriptures rightly pointed out, man are born to troubles. The world we are in today continues not only to live out this biblical truth, but seems hell bent on speeding up both the process and intensity of the fiery cauldron that all find themselves in.
What with
- Trump so determined to stomp on everyone and everything that does not suit his whimsical needs. Creating disorder by dismantling the global order.
- Xi Jinping bringing the fiction of George Orwell’s 1949 novel titled 1984 to a reality. Big brother is indeed watching.
- Putin completing the triumvirate of evil, with his Russian bear’s overbearing presence in the trouble spots of the world.
Where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord.
Psalm 121:1-2
Communion. This was the thought our good Lord placed in my heart this morning while in Church. Being in Church is not about attendance, but rather it brings us unto the presence of our Lord, it makes one cognitive of how distracted one has been by the world.
His Spirit realigns our heart back to Him, to what truly matters.
Thus my heart was grieved. And I was vexed in my mind…….Nevertheless I am continually with You……...You will guide me with Your counsel.
Psalm 73:21-24
As another day comes to an end, it is good to ponder upon this truth. What have you been doing with the time that God has provided? When your end comes or when Christ returns. When the seemingly distant but certain mortality comes to roost for you this very present moment, it will not be about what will you do in the end as in Jeremiah 5:31. But rather, what have you done till the end?
..But what will you do in the end?
Jeremiah 5:31
God Blesses
